Turning Crap into C.R.A.P.

Most people think they need to buy inventory before they can start selling online.

I disagree.

Most people are already surrounded by inventory.

The problem is that they don't recognize it.

Here at Dodson C.R.A.P., we define C.R.A.P. as:

Conserved Resources Awaiting Purpose

In other words, all that stuff sitting in your closets, garage, attic, basement, storage shed, spare bedroom, and kitchen drawers isn't necessarily junk.

It's C.R.A.P.

It has survived.

It has been conserved.

And it is waiting for its next purpose.

That purpose might be finding a new owner through eBay.

It might be sold at a garage sale.

It might be donated to a charity.

It might be repurposed into something entirely different.

Or it might simply be rediscovered and appreciated once again.

The first step is identifying your C.R.A.P.

Take inventory.

Walk through your home and start looking at things differently.

Instead of asking:

"Why am I keeping this?"

Ask:

"What purpose could this serve?"

That's when the transformation begins.

Not when it sells.

Not when it gets listed.

When you begin to see it differently.

A dusty box in the garage is no longer clutter.

It becomes Conserved Resources Awaiting Purpose.

It becomes C.R.A.P.

And once you start looking at your home through that lens, you'll discover that you're surrounded by opportunity.

About Dodson C.R.A.P.

Here at Dodson C.R.A.P., every item we sell is a Conserved Resource Awaiting Purpose.

Some pieces of Dodson C.R.A.P. come from our own closets, shelves, and storage boxes. Others come from garage sales, thrift stores, flea markets, and estate sales where someone else's C.R.A.P. was looking for a new purpose.

Our goal is simple: keep useful items in circulation, keep resources out of landfills, and help conserved resources find new owners and new purposes.

Welcome to Dodson C.R.A.P.

C.R.A.P. stands for Conserved Resources Awaiting Purpose.

For most of my life I have been a conservationist, naturalist, educator, writer, observer of human behavior, occasional eBay reseller, and collector of stories. Along the way, I have noticed that people save things. Lots of things. We save things that are useful, things that are sentimental, things that are valuable, things that are mysterious, and sometimes things that haven't worked since 1981.

This blog is dedicated to the observation, study, appreciation, occasional use, and periodic redistribution of C.R.A.P. Wherever possible, we seek to understand what things are, where they came from, why they were saved, whether they still have value, and if they might find a new purpose rather than a trip to the landfill.

Topics may include estate sales, garage sales, thrift stores, flea markets, household archaeology, family history, stewardship, conservation, eBay adventures, and the curious relationship between people and the things they accumulate.

In short, I live my life, I notice things, I write about them...and occasionally I list and sell C.R.A.P. online.

Welcome aboard.
